What type of wood do you use ?
Every item of furniture that we craft from our workshop is made from 100% sustainable Scandinavian joinery Pine, the highest grade of pine you can buy!
Pine is an extremely strong and versatile wood. It is used all over the world in construction to build houses. Being lightweight but incredible strong, makes it the perfect shelving material.
Do you use sustainable wood ?
We only source our wood from FSC & PEFC Certified Suppliers. We guarantee that all our wood is from 100% sustainable & comes from regenerative managed forests, which gives you the confidence you are buying a completely sustainable wooden product!
We only use the highest grade joinery pine. This allows us to manufacture a product which is consistently high quality with the knowledge that its sustainable and environmentally friendly.
How have I planted a tree ?
All our timber comes from sustainably managed forests in areas where Four trees are planted for every one felled.
Forests that are used for wood harvesting only have a few trees taken from each section. This allows the forests native Animal Habitats to continue to thrive. It also increases sunlight into the forrest floor, encouraging the growth of new ecosystems. This patch of land won't be harvested again for 30 years. We also have our own tree planting scheme. We are in association with ONE TREE PLANTED who are helping to re wild deforested land across the world.
For every TREE we use WE PLANT 10 🌲
Do you use plastic in you packaging ?
Sustainability and responsibility are an integral part of everything we do at Ben Simpson Furniture.
Starting at the very beginning we only use responsibly sourced FSC certified Northern Scandinavian Pine and pack our products in 100% recyclable packaging | We always recycle or reuse waste products from our manufacturing process which include Wood Offcuts, Sawdust, Cardboard & Plastics.

Yes we can do this not a problem, all our shelves are handmade to order, so we can make the shelves any size you need up to 200cm.
If you would like us to provide you with a bespoke quote please let us know via email exactly what you would like - help@bensimpsonfurniture.com
Do you offer colour samples ?
Absolutely! Head to our samples page to check out our Indoor, Mantel & Garden sample sets! For a little TLC, you'll also find our garden care packs!
Can all shelves be fixed to plasterboard walls ?
We would not advise to install floating shelves on plasterboard walls. Our floating rods will not be able to fully support the shelf in plasterboard walls as the fixings do not adequately spread the load of the shelf across the wall.
Our metal brackets can be used on plasterboard walls, however we don’t supply plasterboard wall plugs.
If fixing to plasterboard, you will need to purchase different wall plugs. Unfortunately we are unable to advise on the correct plasterboard fixings, as every wall can vary. We suggest speaking to a member of staff at your local DIY store for examples of plasterboard fixings that would be suitable for your project.
The amount of weight you are able to load on the shelf will be less than advertised for solid walls and will depend on the wall fixings you purchase, so it’s worth asking the member of staff this information also.
Can I have a floating shelf with a depth of 30cm ?
Our floating shelves have a maximum depth of 22cm. This is the largest size we are able to make from a single solid plank.
If you would like a slightly larger depth, we have our 30cm Metal Bracket Shelves as an option. These are made from 2 separate planks secured together with our metal brackets - it works really well to give you a deeper shelf especially for kitchen items such as plates etc...
Can I have a shelf made to a bespoke length ?
All our products are handmade to order which allows us to easily cut our products to bespoke lengths to the nearest 5mm or 0.5cm.
When you are happy with the product you have selected, please then select the nearest standard length option online. Once you have selected your length option & added it to your cart. You will then be able to leave a note in the comments section specifying your bespoke length requirements.
If you have any questions - Feel free to get in touch!
Once you have placed your order. We then receive these requests & make the magic happen!!!
Do you have shelves deeper than 22cm depth ?
Yes, we have 3 depth options/. 15cm, 22cm & 30cm. Our metal bracket shelves have a depth option of 30cm. Because of how we source our sustainable wood, all of our 30m shelves are made from two separate planks which are then secured together using our metal brackets.
