Feature walls and bold paints can work so well in spaces with open shelves
1. Large Prints
A large painting, framed print (perhaps of a famous piece), or canvas photo print is a logical choice, since it draws the attention in a room. Our advice is to forget about art snobbery – allow your choice to be guided both by what you love, and the colour scheme of the room. If you prefer something different, consider painting a wall with an interesting colour to make it the centrepiece of the room. 2. Gallery Walls
Can’t choose just one big piece? Create a gallery wall instead. Start by framing smaller artwork, photos, and prints, and continue to add what works! Try framing fabrics or sentimental items of clothing, hanging plates, or add taxidermy-inspired pieces, and hats into the mix.
3. Mirrors
Mirrors are great to reflect the light and have been used by designers for decades to help small, dark rooms feel bigger and brighter. Pick one large mirror, or a collection of smaller ones.

4. Accent Walls
The accent wall trend just keeps on going. Whether you simply paint a section a contrasting colour, use a patterned wallpaper, or create a mural (wall decals and photo wallpapers are affordable, and achievable for those of us that don’t have the artistic talent) the feature wall is always a talking point.
5. Use Shelving
Styling shelves is one of our favourite ways to use a wall, and they’re easily edited if you like to switch things up too. Traditionally, you’ll find books, plants, and photos on shelves, but shelving can hold and display so much more too. Take inspiration from the gorgeous styling our customers have shared on Instagram.
6. Add Lighting
Architectural lighting can be really striking on a wall, taking the place of artwork, and can be surprisingly affordable too. The colour and brightness of many LED lights can be controlled too, allowing for different effects to be cast against the wall, depending on the mood. While moody lighting can create a rustic feel that works in almost any home.

7. Hobby as Art
Put your hobby where you can see it! Bikes, skateboards, surfboards, and kites can make a great feature on a wall. All you need are some strong brackets, and the bonus is that it doubles as storage if you’re short on space.
8. Add a Bar
Happy hour is never better than at home with good quality spirits and great friends. Whether you add a bar cart to a wall complemented by artwork and signage, or add a couple of simple shelves for bottles and cocktail glasses, a home bar area can be a great addition to your home.
9. Display a Collection
If you collect something you love, don’t tuck it away in boxes – your collection should be seen! Whether your collection is plates, crystal ornaments, or something else entirely, use the whole wall to show it off. Depending on the collection, you might use hooks, frames, or our favourite – floating shelving.
