HOW IT STARTED

Ben Simpson Furniture began with a simple belief: if something is worth making, it's worth making properly. Growing up watching his father build furniture for the family home, Ben discovered that the best pieces weren't bought—they were built with care, patience and pride. That belief still guides every piece we make today.

From the Garden Shed to Thousands of Homes

What began as evenings and weekends spent crafting furniture in a small garden shed with little more than a handful of tools, a commitment to solid timber and an unwavering belief in never compromising on quality, soon grew into something much bigger.

As demand increased, Ben was joined by long-time friend Luke Kiernan, who shared the same passion for thoughtful design, honest craftsmanship and creating furniture that would genuinely stand the test of time.

Growing Without Changing

Together, we made a promise to: never chase shortcuts, never compromise on quality, and never build furniture we wouldn't be proud to have in our own homes.

This built the foundations of a company rooted in traditional British craftsmanship, timeless designs and furniture made to be lived with for generations.

To us, quality and sustainability have never been separate ideas, they're one and the same. By creating furniture that's built to last for decades, using responsibly sourced materials, we believe we're making a positive contribution to both the homes we furnish and the environment we all share.

Built the Same Way Since Day One.

The furniture industry has changed dramatically over the last decade. Mass production has become faster, cheaper materials have become more common, and furniture is too often treated as something temporary.

We've chosen a different path. We still believe solid timber is worth investing in, traditional craftsmanship creates stronger furniture, and beautiful design should never come at the expense of durability. Today, our furniture can be found in over 100,000 homes, yet every piece is still handcrafted to order in our West Sussex workshop using responsibly sourced solid timber.

Although we've grown far beyond where we began, our principles remain unchanged: build furniture properly, create pieces that stand the test of time, and make products that are worth keeping. We believe the most sustainable piece of furniture is the one you never need to replace, and that's the philosophy that continues to guide everything we do.

Our Promise

Furniture built properly, from honest materials, by people who genuinely care. Every piece is handcrafted to order, guaranteed for life and made to become part of your home for generations.

Our Responsibility

Building furniture that lasts is one of the most sustainable choices we can make. By using responsibly sourced timber and planting ten trees for every one we use, we're committed to leaving a positive legacy for future generations.

Looking ahead

Although our workshop has grown, the reason we started never has. We'll continue to build furniture the way we always have, because we believe the furniture you choose today should still be part of your home many years from now.
