HOW IT STARTED
From an early age Ben had a passion for woodworking after watching his dad build most of the furniture in the family home. He quickly found a love for creating wooden furniture at school. After studying Art, Design Technology & Business studies Ben wanted to turn his hobby into a business... Ben Simpson Furniture was born!
Garden Shed
The first thing Ben set out to do was to purchase sustainably sourced timber, he decided on the highest-grade joinery pine that had been kiln dried to a moisture content below 10%. This ensured the furniture acclimatised to its new home without warping or bowing, and will continue to look great for a lifetime.
Once Ben had sourced the highest quality materials, he started to create a range of rustic inspired solid wooden furniture and shelving.
After a few years growing the business from the shed Ben teamed up with long-time friend and school mate Luke Kiernan.
The Partnership
Luke started out much the same as Ben, developing a love for creating wooden furniture at school, furthering his skills by studying Product design & Business Studies at college. This allowed Luke to develop his knowledge of design and product placement in the market.
After Teaming up with Luke, they decided that sustainability was going to be an important aspect of the business. They knew that premium quality, hand crafted furniture had always been a great investment for the home, but also that this type of product was better for the environment too. That’s because it is built better, and is stronger, so is less likely to need replacing, placing further demands on the planet.
Ben & Luke set out to design a new range of Rustic Industrial shelving and furniture, that kept sustainability at the forefront of everything that we did. The brief was simple, Reducing, reusing, recycling.
